Poplar

Poplar is best used for painted interior woodwork: doors, jambs, mouldings, paneling and wainscot.

Coloration:
Poplar wood is typically light in color, with variations of green, purple and black. Its natural variation of colors make it less desirable for stain or natural finishes.

Types of finishes:
Smooth grain. Wide natural color variation. Recommended for paint only.

Exterior or interior:
Interior only.

Select Cypress wood species for interior applications to be stained or natural finished. Cypress has a very pronounced grain and consistent natural blonde/golden/yellow color, making it ideal for staining. May also be used for painted exterior applications under certain conditions.

Interior stain and natural finished woodwork: doors, jambs, mouldings, paneling and wainscot.

Cypress wood has a consistent natural blonde/golden/yellow color, making it ideal for staining.

Types of finishes:
Recommended for stain or natural interior finishes, exterior paint finishes (requires extra coat to conceal raised grain)

Exterior or Interior:
Interior primarily, some exterior under certain conditions
