Traditional wood baseboard is available in a variety of wood species. A few of the most common wood species are Poplar, which is excellent for painting, and Pine or Cypress for natural finishing or staining. Cypress has become increasingly scarce in recent years, and is not as common as it once was due to its increasing cost.
