About the Woods
Poplar: Recommended for interior use only, Poplar is not resistant to rot and stains when in contact with water. Its heartwood color varies widely, often in the same piece, from white to green, black and purple. Its tight, smooth grain makes it ideal for painting. Common uses for Poplar include painted mouldings and wood trim, doors, cabinets and other interior millwork.

Soft Maple: Recommended for interior use only, Soft Maple is not resistant to rot and stains when in contact with water. Its sapwood color ranges from almost white, to a light golden or reddish brown. Its grain is generally straight, but may be wavy, with a fine, even texture that makes it ideal for staining or natural finishing. Soft Maple is commonly used for mouldings and wood trim, doors, cabinets and other interior millwork.
